Årsager

Mellemøstjournalisten Robert Fisk og Jonathan Powers fra det svenske fredsforskningsinstitut TFF sætter terrorangrebet på USA i perspektiv. Begge afviser »Pearl Harbor« versionen om angrebet, der kom fra den blå luft.

Powers sætter angrebet og den kommende gengæld under luppen som udtryk for ser de selvødelæggende tendenser i USA’s »fejslagne civilisation«. Fisk fokuserer på de ødelagte arabiske samfund og de tanker, der ligger bag den »tankeløse« terrorisme.

Virkninger

I en større analyse mener Fjerde Internationale, at Bush bruger aktionen som en kærkommen anledning til at gennemføre en længe planlagt militaristisk dagsorden.

Robert Fisk derimod ser på krigsforberedelserne som en fælde, som en arrogant og naiv Bush-regering er ved at falde i.
