Weekend Seminar May 4 – 5th, 2013

Wars  have always existed, followed by  periods of peace  and negotiations to make peace happen.

At the seminar “Give Peace a Chance – Introduction to Conflict Resolution and Peace Building” we look at the situation at the beginning of the 21. century. Different kinds of conflicts are still the order of the day. Where do we find temporary or long lasting peace? 

Peace research was developed after the Second World War. Wars have been concluded by peace agreements; conflict resolution and mediation have been tried – succeeded or failed – all over the world, and the United Nations and others have developed concepts such as: peacemaking, peacekeeping and peace building;

In the 21. century the internet and the new social media have been introduced in the peace and conflict resolution area. Will the electronic media contribute to a more peaceful world ?

A new multi polar world order is developing. How will this affect the future ? These questions are among the many that will be discussed at the seminar.
