Aarhus: Debate on the political situation in Syria

International Forum and Modkraft Would like to invite everyone with an interest in the Middle East and international politics to a night of debate and presentations on the humanitarian and political situation in Syria.

First hand account of the humanitarian situation and the first days of the revolution.
Sozdar Tammo who is a political refugee from Syria, will outline a short history of the political situation in Syria. The change from revolution to civil war and his eventual escape from the country. Furthermore Tammo will give a brief outline of the development in the now semi-independent Kurdistan.

External interests and solidarity.
Irene Clausen from International Forum will present a lecture on the external interests involved in the ongoing conflict. The lecture will focus on the interests of western powers, and international actors such as ´Russia, Iran, Kurdistan and Israel. Giving a overview of the economic and politial interests of foreign players in Syria. Finally the lecture will try to introduce ways of showing solidarity with the Syrian peoples struggle for freedom and democracy.
There will of course be time for questions and debate at the end of each presentation, directed by representatives from the Danish newssite ´Modkraft´.
