THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE TELEVISED (2003)

In 2002 Irish filmmakers Kim Bartley and Donnacha O'Briain travelled to Venezuela in order to make a documentary about the controversial president Hugo Chavez. They were present when a failed coup took place by a group of oil-interested parties and private media owners. Taking its title from a poem/song by Gil Scott-Heron, The Revolution Will Not Be Televised is an award-winning international documentary which explores an aspect of the Venezuelan history as well as the role of the media in maintaining the status quo.
