An Evening on Katerina Gogou

An evening on Katerina Gogou, an anarchist poetess from Greece

Katerina Gogou (1940-1993) was an anarchist poetess from Exarcheia, Athens in the '70s-'80s. Her poems are a mirror of the marginalized parts of the society, taking the side of drug addicts, prostitutes, criminals, homosexuals, the homeless and immigrants. She was also acting in cinema and she coproduced a record setting her poems to music. Even though Katerina describes Athens in the '70s and '80s, her poems are a mirror of our dystopic present.

This event is a first introduction to the works of Katerina. Our intention is to publish a book with translations of her poems in English and illustrations of them. We will present some excerpts from her films and her poems in music, as well as works of latter artists inspired by her.
